Inspired by the strength and softness of feminine energy, Doux Sol was created as a paradigm shift, made to create awareness and to honor our connection to the earth and each other. Our well being is inextricably linked to the well being of the earth. The most delicate part of the feminine body should only ever be exposed to non toxic dyes and fabrics that are made consciously and sustainably. Using breathable underwear is essential to maintaining a proper balanced environment that doesn't harbour bacteria. Doux Sol is as gentle on you as it is on the earth.

FABRIC

What is Doux Sol made of?

Doux Sol is made from TENCEL™ Modal. The fibers that make the fabric are derived from sustainable wood sources – natural forests and sustainably managed plantations. Wood and pulp used by the Lenzing Group is harvested from certified and controlled sources.

TENCEL™ Modal fibers help to maintain the environmental balance by being integrated into nature’s cycle. The fibers originate from the renewable raw material wood, created by photosynthesis. The certified bio-based fibers are manufactured using an environmentally responsible production process. The fibers are certified as compostable and biodegradable, and thus can fully revert back to nature.

SUSTAINABILITY

How does modal impact the environment?

It depends on where and how it’s produced. Doux Sol sources modal from Lenzing, which has developed innovative environmental processes for the manufacture of Lenzing Modal which are not commercially available to others. These non-toxic technologies have allowed Lenzing to recover up to 95% of Modal's production materials, minimizing emissions and conserving resources.

The environmental footprint of Lenzing Modal is a positive one – it’s carbon-neutral, requires less land per tonne than cotton fibers and has a water consumption level that’s ten to twenty times less than that of cotton.

So why beech trees in particular, then? Because, as Lenzig explains, “the way that beech trees grow is something truly special. They multiply by ‘rejuvenation’ which means that the trees propagate by themselves.” When grown using sustainable harvesting methods, the wood from this tree represents a much more sustainable option than other thirsty plants such as cotton. This is because no artificial irrigation or planting is required to grow Beechwood and Lenzing is committed to using only wood from forests that apply prevailing forestry legislation and sustainability methods. Additionally, the raw material (pulp) is processed at the same site as the modal fibre itself, allowing Lenzing to minimize its use of energy and other such resources.

IMPACT
How does modal impact our body?

TENCEL ™ Modal cellulosic fibers naturally manage the transportation of moisture, contributing to breathable fabrics that provide a less favorable environment for bacterial growth, offering better hygienic qualities.

Derived from renewable wood sources using Eco Soft technology, TENCEL™ Intimate cellulosic fibers gently embrace your body with long-lasting softness to help your skin feel pleasantly cool and dry throughout the day and night. As a result of the smooth fiber surface, TENCEL™ Intimate cellulosic fibers offer an exquisitely gentle quality that creates a barely there feel. Hand wash your intimates and hang to dry — it’s better for you and for the environment.

TLC
How to properly care for your Doux Sol intimates

We recommend hand washing your delicates and hanging them to dry.

The average washing machine uses 41 gallons of water per load, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. This is far more than is generally used in hand washing clothes. It also increases your electric bill and uses energy. It is far better for the environment and for your intimate pieces. While most of us are not accustomed to this in western cultures, you'll see how quick and painless the process really is.

Clothes dryers can cause wear and strain on delicates as they're tossed and tumbled. Instead, hang your Doux Sol pieces to dry.
